AdLib vs SearchAPI: ad library data API compared

SearchAPI passes ad library searches through as a SERP API, billed per search. AdLib returns ads in one schema across six libraries, keeps history and bills per delivered ad.

SearchAPI is a SERP API with engines for several ad libraries. It returns what each library returns, one engine at a time, billed per search. AdLib is built only for ad data: one schema across six libraries, its own archive, and webhooks.

Where AdLib is different

  • One schema. A Meta ad and a TikTok ad have the same fields, so you write one integration, not five.
  • History and events. Ads stay after the platform drops them; watchlists tell you when they change.
  • Empty results are free, also when a search finds nothing.

When SearchAPI is the better pick

If you already use SearchAPI for Google search results and only need occasional ad library lookups under the same key, or you need Reddit ads, SearchAPI is the simpler choice.

Questions

How does SearchAPI bill ad library searches?
Per search, that is per page of results, from $40 for 10,000 searches down to about $1 per 1,000 at volume. Its pricing page says only successful 200 responses are charged.
Does SearchAPI keep ended ads?
No. It returns what the library shows at the time of the request. AdLib keeps every ad it has seen, with versions and active periods.
Does SearchAPI cover Reddit ads?
Yes, it has a Reddit Ad Library engine. AdLib does not cover Reddit; it covers Pinterest and X instead.
